Common questions
How do I make a sound?
Tap anywhere on the canvas. A colored ball appears at your fingertip and starts bouncing down to the row of musical pads at the bottom. Each time it lands on a pad, that pad plays its note.
How do I make it sound like music and not chaos?
Tap "Rails: off" in the left menu to cycle through quantization grids — 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/8T. With rails on, new balls snap to a beat grid so everything plays in time. Then stagger your taps a moment apart to build up a layered rhythm instead of a chord.
How do I change a ball's note?
The note is determined by the pad column the ball falls onto. Place the ball horizontally above the pad you want — left-most is C, then D, E, G, A, C₂ (an octave above the first C), F, and D₂.
How do I delete a ball?
Tap "🗑️ Eraser" in the left menu to enter eraser mode (the button turns red), then tap any ball to remove it. Tap "🗑️ Erasing" again to leave eraser mode. To wipe every ball at once, tap "🧹 Clear" at the bottom of the menu.
How do I save and reopen a session?
Tap "💾 Save" in the left menu to save the current arrangement. Tap "🏠 Home" to go back to the home screen and you'll see your saved session in the carousel. Tap it to reopen — every ball comes back exactly where it was and resumes bouncing in the same rhythm. Long-press a session card to rename or delete it.
Audio is silent.
Check the iPhone hardware volume is up, the silent switch isn't blocking media playback, and tap "▶️ Play" if the scene is paused. If sound still doesn't return, force-quit the app and relaunch it.
Where are my saved sessions stored?
In Grumpy Grid's Documents directory, accessible via the iOS Files app under On My iPhone → Grumpy Grid. Sessions are private to the app and never transmitted off-device.
Will there be more features?
Possibly. The current Grumpy Grid is feature-complete for the v1 experience. If a clear next step earns its place, it'll land in a future update — you can suggest one via the support email above.
